Wanna’ Earn $1 Million Dollars Playing Call of Duty?

The next time your parents tell you that playing video games won’t pay the bills, simply point to the Call of Duty Championships and its $1 Million dollar grand prize (cue Dr. Evil laugh).

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg hyped C.o.D. and this year’s tournament, stating “…last year’s championship came down to the final minute of the final match with everyone holding their breath to see who would win. The skill, passion and energy brought by these teams and the crowd looking-on showed just what makes our community the best in the world. Call of Duty is more than a video game. It’s a pastime shared by millions. It’s exciting to play and fun to watch, and we can’t wait to see what this year’s event has in store.”

The 2014 championships are presented by Xbox and will be the very first competitive Call of Duty event on their next-gent console. It will feature teams of six from all around the world (including the US, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia) and will be overseen by eSports organisations.

A press release states that the “…tournament is open to all qualified players, whether professional gamers or not, provided they meet the requirements of the official rules and regulations.”

For more details, check out the tournaments official site , as the event runs from the 28 th through the 30 th of March in L.A.
