Square Enix honcho, Yoichi Wada, stated to London publication Financial Times that he expects Nintendo to release their next gaming console on the world in 2011. According to the Financial Times report, consumers can expect “functionality more like that of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 or Sony’s PlayStation 3, and possibly a different controller.” Such speculation is hardly surprising, as 2011 would mark the Wii’s fifth year at market. However, getting such information from the head of a Japanese gaming giant seems to lend the presumption a bit more credence.
