Writer Says Next James Bond Script Almost Finished

You have to hand it to the longevity of a franchise like James Bond , as the series not only continues to enjoy huge box office success, but is already steaming towards yet another theatrical release.

In a recent interview, screenwriter John Logan revealed his excitement as he gets closer to finishing a first draft (and how the continuation of Skyfall factors into the plot). “Right now the first draft is almost done. I’m terrifically excited about it! I’ve been working very closely with Sam, and it’s been joyous to pick up from our work on Skyfall and just continue on with the storytelling. The new movie continues the themes of Skyfall . Some of the characters and themes that we began to introduce in Skyfall will play out, I hope successfully, in the next movie.” He beams.

Another asset in working on a franchise like this is the huge pool of resources to pull from. Logan touts the accessibility of the 50+ years of content as one of his biggest advantages in crafting a new and interesting Bond film. “…I have… 23 movies and all the Ian Fleming novels and short stories, all of which are fodder. And when I’m working on the new Bond I’m constantly going back to Fleming and the other movies.” Says Logan.

This will once again mark the return of Daniel Craig as secret agent 007, in the 24 th movie featuring the character. The film will be released in the US this November.
