As much as I would love to have a Nintendo Switch in the future, I won’t be able to bring myself to get one if companies can’t figure out the game card situation. The most recent issue with it is with WWE 2K18 . Fans were rightfully up in arms when they realized the eShop version of the game was going to take up 32GB of storage. This is of course more than the internal storage available in the Swich, making extra storage necessary to play WWE 2K18 .
Turns out that’s the least of WWE 2K18 ‘s worries. The physical version of the game is going to include a massive download as well. 24GB of game data will need to be downloaded to even play the game. This is just another drop in the bucket of the troubles Switch has with its game cards. They are expensive to manufacture, which either drives up the price of the game, or leads to situations like these.
I don’t want to have to spend more money to play a game on the Nintendo Switch that would play just as well on a different console. I also don’t want to have to buy additional MicroSD cards left and right just to house massive downloads for games that didn’t want to spend the money on the bigger card. WWE 2K18 is obviously contained on an 8GB card, which is the smallest and cheapest one a company can go with. Makes the video game business of making money a little clearer than normal.
