X-COM Designer Making a 3DS Title

None

X-COM designer Julian Gollop recently announced he is working on a launch game for the 3DS, as well as discussed some interesting bits about the state of the turn-based strategy genre (via Edge). Stating that RTS games have essentially “killed off” turn-based strategy games and that most publishers will “run a mile” from the genre, he considers Nintendo’s handhelds to be the last bastion for them.

Gollop states “I am now working on a turn-based tactical RPG which will be a 3DS launch title.” He continues “Thanks to Advance Wars, Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics it seems turn-based games are not totally dead – at least for Nintendo handhelds.” Furthermore, according to Tiny Cartridge, Gollop has been working at Ubisoft Bulgaria/Sofia for the past three years, leading to speculation that the title he is working on is the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Lead The Ghosts game that the company had previously announced.
