Major Nelson has officially revealed August’s Xbox Live Games with Gold lineup. The games are pretty hit or miss, as usual, depending on your tastes. The two Xbox One games up for grabs are Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate and WWE 2K16 . The former will be available all month long, and if you’ve ever played a Warriors game extensively, you know exactly what you’re getting into. Orochi 3 Ultimate is hailed by many as the best in the series, and features an impressive cast of playable heroes, so it’s certainly worth a look. WWE 2K16 is a no-brainer; check out our review here and see for yourself how Yuke’s is taking this series in a brilliant direction. It will be available for free August 16 – September 15.
We have two solid Xbox 360 games as well, which are both playable on Xbox One via backward compatibility. The first is Spelunky , which everyone needs to download. This charming, randomly generated 2D platformer / adventure game will have you cheering and cussing, and it’s addictive as hell. Spelunky will be available August 1-15. Beyond Good & Evil HD is available starting August 16 through the end of the month. If you’ve never played the game before, it’s certainly worth checking out. Just be warned: if you’re an inverted y-axis gamer like I am, unless they’ve patched something, there’s no way to invert the camera (without also inverting x-axis). This can make for a grueling experience for the first couple of hours while you attempt to re-adjust. Have fun with that.
