Zoe Saldana Says Avatar Sequels Make Her “Emotional”

Zoe Saldana Says Avatar Sequels Make Her “Emotional”

After recent news that Zoe Saldana has officially signed on for future Avatar sequels, she now gives us a bit of insight into what it’s like returning to Pandora.

Saldana recently visited the sets once again and got the guided tour by director James Cameron himself. In regards to the surreal experience, she said, “I went down to the studio that they’ve been setting up for the past three years. It was wonderful. Jim took us and gave us a tour of all the reference pictures, telling us the stories. I haven’t been able to read the scripts. They’re still working on them. We kind of get choked up. Cameron gets emotional telling us about the story. I get emotional hearing about it, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Both Saldana and Sam Worthington recently inked deals that would see them return for all three sequels that James Cameron plans to begin shooting at the end of this year (back-to-back-to-back).

Saldana also reveals that the plans for both her character and the over-arching storyline we will see unfold have been in the works for some time (and the studio wanted her to prepare long before her deal was in place). ” “I knew. I knew for a while. Then it was confirmed last fall when they approached us, already telling us these are the dates, lock yourself, we would like you to start getting ready around this time.” Zoe says.

The next Avatar sequel is set to hit theaters during the holiday season of 2016.
