It's a standard maxim of game design that all things of the same type should look the same, for consistent play, and easy ID. And it does make things easy, but also make things boring. So in Andromeda, they went the opposite direction. Containers in Andromeda can look like absolutely anything. Even model that are used for other things (shield generators, incubators, data nodes, et al) can also be containers. The lesson here is, if you want to be thorough in your looting, check everything. You never know where the treasure may be hid.
