Mass Effect Andromeda’s Ryders Are Brother and Sister

Mass Effect Andromeda’s Ryders Are Brother and Sister

BioWare showed up to the PlayStation Meeting in a big way with some new Mass Effect: Andromeda footage. We didn’t really learn anything new about the game or any of its characters during the clip, but we did get a great sneak peak of how the game is shaping up. Spoiler: it looks amazing. In the E3 trailer we got our first glimpse of the female Ryder. During the PlayStation Meeting demonstration, we saw a male Ryder. Unlike in previous Mass Effect games, these two characters both exist in the same game world, and they’re related.

That’s right. Mass Effect: Andromeda creative lead Mac Walters revealed that the male and female protags are actually brother and sister, and both will share the same game world. “So if you’re playing as the sister Ryder, female Ryder,” Walter said in an interview with PlayStation Access, “your brother’s somewhere in the universe.” Walter also revealed that the character teased in the Andromeda trailer two E3s ago is actually the father of the sibling Ryders.
