Not long after Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford showed off the technology that will be powering the next Borderlands , Square Enix is showing off what Final Fantasy XV would look like running in top of the line PC hardware. A PC version of the game is something that has been hinted at, sort of, but nobody expected it to be shown (as a possibility, mind) in the way it was.
At GDC 2017, a demonstration was shown of Final Fantasy XV running and being built behind the scenes on PCs using Nvidia’s brand new GTX 1080i graphics card. Normally this sort of thing isn’t a confirmation of anything coming to retail space, and this wasn’t either in a direct sense. However, a surprising amount of content not actually in Final Fantasy XV in its present state was shown as a part of the video. What stood out the most was Noctis and pals cruising around in an off-road vehicle instead of the usual Regalia. Other than that, what seemed like a couple new enemies and other unfamiliar sights peppered the video.
Could this be more than a tech demo? Perhaps, but it could also have been more of a tease for future content, on top of a normal tech demo. Maybe we’ll see the dudes in a dune buggy as part of an add-on?
