Activision Blizzard taking Call of Duty, Warcraft to the Silver Screen

Activision Blizzard taking Call of Duty, Warcraft to the Silver Screen

All right guys and gals: a couple of our favorite games are making their way to the big screen, and that’s either a really good thing or a really bad thing. Typically film and TV adaptations of video games turn out poorly. If you need a sobering reminder, go watch Doom , which earned a 19% recommendation percentage from Rotten Tomatoes (compared to Paul Blart: Mall Cop ’s 33%). Now, two of Activision Blizzard’s most popular franchises, Call of Duty and Warcraft , are destined to become either cinematic sell-outs or big-screen blockbusters.

There’s a lot happening at Activision Blizzard right now. Multiple, big games are coming down the pipeline, an ambitious eSports division is in development, a huge, multi-billion dollar mobile publisher acquisition recently took place, and now it’s announced Activision Blizzard Studios, the TV and film division in charge of bringing some huge IPs to life. Activision Blizzard has big plans for multiple projects based on the Call of Duty series. It should be noted that the production of Warcraft: Beginnings is not one of Activision Blizzard Studios’ projects, but the trailer revealed at BlizzCon this weekend looks fairly promising.
