Activision Considering More Remasters

Activision Considering More Remasters

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was an N. Sane success story, topping charts for both physical and digital sales in the US and Europe throughout the month of June. During an earnings conference call with investors, Activision was asked an obvious question; what does this game’s high sales mean for Activision?

CEO Eric Hirshberg said they were as surprised as everyone else was. “We knew that there was a passionate audience out there for Crash – full disclosure, myself among them -but we had no idea. It’s hard to tell if that’s a vocal minority or that’s a real mass audience until you put something out there. Crash has surpassed all of our expectations by a pretty wide margin.” Hirshberg also presented the idea that while Crash Bandicoot has seen surprising success, Activision isn’t new to the idea of remastering IP. He argues the Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Zombies Chronicles content are examples of a similar breed to the Crash Bandicoot project, which is fair enough.

That said, Hirshberg also said that remastering Activision IP is a “strategy that clearly has our attention,” and that “I think you can be confident there will be more activity like this in the future with more great IP.” So there are no announcements, but it’s probably pretty safe to assume we’ll be seeing some sort of follow-up to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy sooner rather than later.
