Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel Revealed

Publisher Electronic Arts has announced Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, the third entry in the co-op-based shooter series, to be published by Visceral Games Montreal.

This time out, players will be put in the shoes of Alpha and Bravo, two PMC operatives who must work together in the midst of a ruthless and seedy drug war on the streets of Mexico. EA is promising to “re-set the series” with a “more intense, mature and grittier tone,” which may be a curious choice of words considering the first two Army of Two installments seemed pretty “gritty” in the first place. Both online and split-screen co-op have been confirmed.

“Our goal with Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is to apply our key design principles – immersive, challenging gameplay, intense narrative and focus on quality – to help improve a franchise we feel has always had a lot of potential,” said Visceral General Manager Steve Papoutsis.

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is currently scheduled to drop sometime in March 2013 for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
