Battlefield 3 and long-time DICE producer Patrick Liu has left the Sweden-based developer for Angry Birds creator Rovio.
Liu has been appointed as the studio’s creative director. Previously, he had been at DICE for over five years in a senior producer position. Before joining the Battlefield 3 developer, he worked as an associate producer at Starbreeze Studios (Syndicate reboot).
“Rovio feels awesome, can-do mentality, big ideas, agile, empowering, disruptive. Looking forward to new and exciting challenges,” Liu tweeted.
Liu isn’t the only high-profile departure from DICE in recent months, though. One of the developer’s lead designers, David Goldfarb, departed from the firm to join Starbreeze in July.
