Bizarre Creations Closes Their Doors

None

Racing game fans are set to mourn the death of one of the genre’s most respected studios. On Friday, February 18, Bizarre Creations will be closing its studio doors for good. Over the last 15 years, the studio made 20 games, nearly all of them critically and publicly praised.

In an interview with Develop, Commercial Director Sarah Chudley revealed that the studio’s financial difficulties led them to accept Activision’s offer to acquire the developer. Complaints about how they were subsequently treated range from the publisher “meddling” in the creative process and failure to properly market its games. The studio’s relationship with its publisher is said to have been very positive overall, however.

Bizarre Creations’ catalog includes the Project Gotham Racing and the Geometry Wars series, as well as a few one-offs such as the ill-fated Blur and the latest Bond game, Bloodstone.
