Bungie Details Second Part of Legendary Map Pack for Halo 3: Avalanche

None

The details surrounding the second map in the Legendary Map pack have been released by Bungie in an in-depth interview with creators Niles Sankey, Lars Bakken, Mike Buelterman, and Jason Sussman. Avalanche, also known as Cotton Ball, will take gamers back to the icy wastes of Sidewinder from Halo: Combat Evolved. The new map took its inspiration directly from the original map, but is also different in many ways.

Similarities include the familiar U-shape of the map, multiple entry and exit points to and from the base, and a ton of vehicles to mount. Differences such as the elimination of ladders, the long interior tunnel, and the addition of mancannons will serve to greatly speed up play.

Here’s how Bungie sums up the new map:

“The second map, Avalanche, is a tribute to Sidewinder, a “Halo: Combat Evolved” fan-favorite. This massive, vehicle-oriented objective map adds a twist to its classic predecessor with all new interiors, dramatically reshaped exteriors and brand new vehicle variants. Take a ride and admire the visual variety from the cockpit of the retuned Hornet.”

There are no details surrounding the third map as of yet, but all three are due out on April 15 th so we should get details from Bungie shortly. The Legandary Map pack will set you back 800 Microsoft points.
