Electronic Arts has announced that the upcoming RTS Command and Conquer Generals 2 will be free-to-play when it launches as the first entry in a new online service simply titled “Command and Conquer.” Command and Conquer will launch next year as a general platform for a multitude of future titles in the series, with Generals 2 constituting the first “universe” in the service. EA says that that Generals 2, which is being developed by BioWare Victory, will be just the first of “many free offerings.” Other planned “universes” include Red Alert and Tiberium.
