Commodore Founder Passes Away At Age 83

None

It is a sad day in the world of videogaming. Jack Tramiel, one of the great fathers of gaming, has passed away at the age of 83. Tramiel was the founder of Commodore and the man behind Atari, one of the first giants of video gaming. Famous for saying “We need to build computers for the masses, not the classes,” Tramiel’s work on developing home computers for the common consumer opened up the world to not only new possibilities in gaming, but in home computing as well. If it weren’t for Tramiel, we wouldn’t have had the Commodore 64, one of the most beloved retro computer consoles and the hardware on which many young developers got their start.

Your work has had a profound impact on us all Mr. Tramiel. You will be missed.
