The Week in Review news piece summarizes and highlights the most important gaming related news and rumors over the past week. This weekly article will keep you plugged in and in-tune.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH got the week started by revealing the date for new MEME EXPANSION for Metal Gear Online . Pre-sale started the 18th of November in Europe, but content won’t playable until the worldwide release on the 25th of November .

According to rumors from various sources, Media Molecule , creators of acclaimed platformer LittleBigPlanet, have been offered a three game contract by Sony to develop titles specifically for their platforms. Whether the studio will branch off onto the PSP or remain confined to the PS3 is unknown. In fact, the entire contract has not been officially announced, though it does seem likely. Expect this rumor to become official in 2009.

A series of “leaked” screens of content for the release of Sony Home Beta 1.0 were posted by a forum user on Tawkn.com. The screens mention that the updated beta will be available for closed beta users on November 20th. Because of this, it is now widely speculated that Sony will soon bring the Beta version 1.0 to Sony users at large. In other words, expect open beta for Home soon.

On Wednesday the 19 th of November, Xbox LIVE launched the New Xbox Experience (NXE) . The new front-end of Xbox LIVE employs a channel-like interface, allows users to stream Netflix video on demand, and gives gamers the opportunity to install their games among other things.

Largely, the NXE is seen as a success. However, there have been reports that it is causing major problems for many 360 users . According to early reports and forum complaints, players around the world are experiencing “ connection freezes, slow downs, lock ups, broken TV connections,” malfunctioning disc drives, and even the dreaded Red Ring of Death. Major Nelson and the rest of the LIVE crew have not yet addressed the issues formally. As for us, none of the staff at CheatCC has experienced any of these issues except for major slowdown whilst viewing LIVE content.

Also, in reaction to consumer comments that Halo 3 actually functions worse after installing the game to the 360’s HDD, “uber engineer and Chief Caching Officer, Mat Noguchi” explained on the Bungie web site that it is normal for games developed before the install announcement for NXE was made to suffer from extended load times.
