Curse of Naxxramas Week Two: Plague Quarter

Curse of Naxxramas Week Two: Plague Quarter

A couple of weeks ago I talked about my experiences with one of the wings for Blizzard Entertainment’s Curse of Naxxramas singleplayer adventure for Hearthstone the “Arachnid Quarter” .

Now that the second wing has been opened since Curse of Naxxramas entered its second week, entitled “Plague Quarter”, I figured I might as well recount my experiences and outline what the new wing has to offer.

Like at the end of Curse of Naxxramas’ Arachnid Quarter, I walked away with new cards, new class challenges, and an apprehension to try out Plague Quarter’s Heroic Mode. The Class Challenges for this wing were particularly fun, at least in my experience (the Hunter challenge was especially fun, I found).

However, it wasn’t all that much of a smooth ride to begin with, as Plague Quarter encountered some purchasing problems for a lot of Hearthstone players during its launch week.

When it first opened, some players were able to access to the new wing to the Naxxramas adventure, but some were stumped at the purchasing screen; despite many attempts of purchasing with the correct amount of in-game gold (700), I wasn’t able to unlock the new wing until a few days later.

Blizzard was active on resolving the purchasing issue of the Plague Quarter, and as far as I’m aware the players should be able to purchase the new wing without a hitch.

Like Arachnid Quarter, Plague Quarter offers up six new cards to add to your Hearthstone collection; four cards from completing the actual Plague Quarter wing, and two for completing the new class challenges.

Also like Arachnid Quarter, a Legendary card is included with the four cards you are rewarded for completing the wing.

Previously I stated that the remaining wings will reward you with four cards, one of which is a Legendary. While this is true (you are rewarded a new Legendary card for completing each wing in the Curse of Naxxramas adventure), there’s only one more wing that rewards you with four cards: the “Military Quarter”, which should be this week’s wing.

As for the new class challenges, this time around the Hunter and the Mage have their time in the spotlight, with cards reward for each class respectively.

Like I did for the Arachnid Quarter, a full list of cards rewarded for completing the Plague Quarter has been detailed below (which includes the ones rewarded from the new Class Challenges), along with each card’s respective statistics and descriptions included.

Curse of Naxxramas Week Two: Plague Quarter

Plague Quarter

  • Unstable Ghoul (Common Minion), 1/3 for 2 mana; Taunt. Deathrattle: Deal 1 damage to all minions.

  • Stoneskin Gargoyle (Common Minion), 1/4 for 3 mana; At the start of your turn, restore this minion to full Health.

  • Sludge Belcher (Rare Minion), 3/5 for 5 mana; Taunt. Deathrattle: Summon a 1/2 Slime with Taunt.

  • Loatheb (Legendary Minion), 5/5 for 5 mana; Battlecry: Enemy spells cost (5) more next turn.

Class Challenge

  • Webspinner (Hunter, Common Minion), 1/1 for 1 mana; Deathrattle: Adda random Beast card to your hand.

  • Duplicate (Mage, Common Spell), 3 mana; Secret: When a friendly minion dies, put 2 copies of it into your hand.

The remaining three wings for the Curse of Naxxramas adventure will set you back €5.99 / £4.99 (or your regional equivalent) each . Alternatively, you can spend 700 in-game to unlock each of the wings as they become available, which can be done by winning games, beating The Arena or by completing Quests.

When Curse of Naxxramas’ next wing opens up (the Military Quarter), I’ll probably outline what said wing has to offer, as well as casually talk about my experiences with it. Until such time, enjoy playing with your new cards!
