CyberConnect2 New Year’s Promise: Three New IPs

CyberConnect2 New Year’s Promise: Three New IPs

In the closing days of 2012, CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama posted a YouTube video that addressed some of the company’s plans for the coming year. It has since been translated by SGCafe, revealing that CyberConnect2 is continuing work on Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle. But it also revealed the existence of three brand new IPs.

Though, the word reveal might be a little overzealous. CyberConnect2 hasn’t offered any details on these games, and the specific language used is “original new works,” but that has long stood for “new IP” in Japanese gaming industry parlance.

The last wholly original game from CyberConnect2 was last year’s Asura’s Wrath, which didn’t really stoke the fires of my game-loving heart , but definitely served as proof that its developers were willing to try something entirely different. I can’t help but get a little excited at the prospect of more original content from the studio.
