Cyberpunk 2077 Cheats & Cheat Codes

If your gaming adventures take you to Night City, you’ll need the latest tricks to dominate. In Cyberpunk 2077, everything you do matters and a mistake can get you betrayed…or worse. But in a game that’s all about hacking to improve your odds, we’re more than happy to provide a few extra cheats. Let’s look at what Cyberpunk 2077 is about, what cheat codes are most effective, and how they work.

Cyberpunk 2077 Summary

The latest huge release from CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 saw immense numbers of pre-orders and players readied to jump into the futuristic world. While the beginning was a bit rocky (and buggy), the game eventually improve through patches and completely redid its skill tree. Now, players have more choices than ever about how to navigate Night City, take down their opponents, and complete missions.

While roleplaying options are limited compared to other cyberpunk-related titles, there is still lots to do and plenty of action. Players have the ability to approach missions in many different ways, including nonlethal takedowns, hacking, stealth, and much more.

With major DLC still set to arrive, Cyberpunk 2077 is far from finished, and players are still finding ways to have lots of fun with main character “V.” Whether that includes buying up apartments, hacking implants to take out guns, or going in with guns and sword-arms blazing — well, that’s up to you. Below, we’ll cover some details, and talk about how the PC version of 2077 in particular offers some excellent cheats.

Cyberpunk 2077 Premise

A few well-timed glitches await in Cyberpunk 2077.

It’s the future — 2077, to be specific. Body augmentation is all the rage, and the world is dark mix of whatever you can get away with. The location is Night City, a Californian metropolis governed by megacorporations completely above the law. Players play as V, and entirely customizable mercenary. In addition to their body, players customize their background, choosing to start as a wandering nomad looking for a new life, a rough-and-tumble streetkid working their way up, or a corpo employee going renegade.

Whichever backstory V starts with, the few missions go very badly. The character gets involved in secret plots and ends up getting left for dead with the brain chip of an old rock start in their head. Now they’re on a countdown: They have a few weeks to get the chip out, find out what’s going on, and get revenge. Along the way, there are multiple allies to make and lots of upgrades to consider.

Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City is an open world, where V can go anywhere to seek out quests, objectives, and more from the first-person perspective. Conservations also play an important role, in making allies and enemies. As they level up, the player can raise attributes and install new mods to gain additional skills. These skills can also be upgraded. RPG staples like crafting, weapon specialization, and stealth are all here, along with newcomers like hacking. There are plentiful lethal and non-lethal options to complete missions, a variety of long-range and melee weapons to choose from, and more.

As V navigates Night City on foot or by vehicle, they’ll encounter not only enemy gangs that must be taken down, but also law enforcement. Committing crimes in the open can lead to police pursuit, and will require a swift getaway. Completing quests successfully adds experience and street cred to unlock various capabilities. There’s a scanning option to help identify quest objectives in the environment, and a journal to keep track of current “Jobs” that V has agreed to.

There are also a couple of deeper role-playing aspects to the game, although they are limited at this time. V can pursue romances with specific characters, and purchase apartments around the city to make into homes. However, the focus is primarily on completing missions and progressing the story.

Cyberpunk 2077: Main Characters

Characters abound in Cyberpunk 2077, friend and foe.

As players progress through the story of Cyberpunk 2077, they’ll run into a lot of important characters to interact with. Key people to keep in mind include:

  • Johnny Silverhand: This dude is in your head, literally. He was a rock star and rebellious figurehead working against corrupt governments…well, he’s not squeaky clean himself, either. But experimentation with dangerous new technology ended up transferring his consciousness over to V’s. Now, V just has a few weeks left until Silverhand takes them over completely. Will they work with Silverhand in the meantime, or take a different path?
  • Judy Alvarez: This expert braindance tech is part of the Mox gang, one of the friendlier Night City gangs banded together for support. She’s an important contact for V when tracking down esoteric tech, but she and her friends need lots of help, too.
  • Jackie Welles: A fellow mercenary, Jackie is a surprisingly wholesome bright spot in Night City. He’s more than happy to work with you, helping V get set up in the city where there’s no one else to turn to.
  • Viktor Vektor: An expert doctor in the city, Viktor is both key to the story and helpful for upgrades. V encounters him as they progress through the main campaign.
  • Royce: Royce is the leader of Maelstrom, one of the worst gangs in the city. They’re obsessed with getting cyber upgrades, no matter what it costs them. You don’t want to get on Royce’s bad side, but there may not be an alternative.
  • Saburo Arasaka: The leader of Arasaka corp, the biggest producer of weapons and nasty stuff in the world. These days he’s pretty old, but he’ll do anything to stay in power. That anything can include some nasty stuff. He’s currently at odds with his son Yorinobu, who thinks it’s time for some new leadership. Arasaka is deeply involved in the last days of Johnny Silverhand, and his family is filled with secrets.
  • Kerry Eurodyne: An old friend of Johnny Silverhand, Kerry holds valuable information about the past that V needs.
  • Rogue Amedniares: Another friend of Johnny’s, Rogue found a new life as a master fixer. She’s one of the biggest mercenary contacts in Night City, and you’ll want to be on her good side.
  • Placide: A contact for the Voodoo Boys, a famous Netrunner gang. He and Maman Brigitte run a tight ship, and you could use the gang’s services during the story…for a price.
  • Alt Cunningham: A certified genius, Alt is a master hacker and creator who used to be close to Johnny Silverhand. However, her last project, codenamed Soulkiller, pushed the boundaries a little too far. She was kidnapped by the Arasaka family and her final whereabouts remain difficult to track down. If V finds her, she could reveal vital information about what’s going on.
  • Anders Hellman: A brilliant scientist who has big dreams for Arasaka. The Soulkiller program may be the last piece of the puzzle he needs to complete his goals.
  • Adam Smasher: A living weapon, this cyborg isn’t human any longer, but he is a massive threat. The mercenary works for the Arasaka family and will take down anyone in their way. That includes Johnny Silverhand in the past. Down, many decades later, V may risk running into him again.

Cyberpunk 2077 Cheats and Codes

Fear nothing with a few easy tricks in Cyberpunk 2077.

There’s a lot you can do with Cyberpunk 2077, and a couple of tricks can really help you along. Let’s go over some important basics about the game, how cheat codes currently work, and what glitches you can try.

Cyberpunk 2077 and Console Commands

If you’re playing on PC, you’re probably wondering about console commands before any other kinds of cheats. Console commands are enabled through a debug console that many games leave open (or allow unlocking) for players. It’s how you get commands for invincibility, infinite money, all the good stuff. And if you look up cheat codes for Cyberpunk 2077, you can probably find a bunch of these console commands to input.

There’s just one problem: They don’t work. When Cyberpunk 2077 was first released, players could generally access the debug console for all these cheat codes. But after a short time, a hotfix (one of many) was released that disabled that console. Players with any updated version of the game probably won’t be able to use it.

So where does that leave us? In luck! Because Cyberpunk 2077 still supports mods that you can use for all sorts of things. And one of the early, best mods is called Cyber Engine Tweaks, which you can find by following that link. Download this mod, and it will add its own version of a usable console to your PC version of the game. That lets you use all kinds of cheat codes, although the original debug console codes may not work. These codes below are specifically for Cyber Engine Tweaks, and will allow you do enable all kinds of cheats. There’s more, but these are some of our favorites and the most effective options you can find:

  • Game.AddToInventory(“Items.money”, ####): This command adds a specified amount of money directly into your inventory, essentially giving you free money all the time.
  • Game.AddToInventory(“Items.BiotechRareMKII”, 1): This command works for installing a rare bit of cyberware. However, the command can also work with the names of pretty much any weapon. If you want something specific, look up the code on Cyber Engine Tweaks to find it. Keep in mind, if you add cyberware with this code, you’ll still need to have it installed. It’ll just be freely available when you do. The trick also works with weapon mods, materials and crafting supplies, and clothes.

Find a Respawn for Enemies

If you want to level up fast, you need to find a key spot where enemies will keep respawning as long as you hit them with tranquilizer rounds. Buy and equip tranquilizer rounds, and a find a good location with enemies patrolling the outside of a base. There’s a spot in Pacifica near the harbor that works, but other places can work as well. Run a patrol of your own past the gathering of enemies, tranqing them each time. When you circle back, they should have respawned again.

Because you’re using tranq rounds, you’ll get experience for the takedown, but enemy stats shouldn’t matter as much. Feel free to switch the difficulty to the highest level to maximize your experience.

Find Charles Bucks

In the Watson district, you can find a ripperdoc called Charles Bucks. At first, that may not mean much — after all, there’s a lot of ripperdocs in town that can upgrade you. But Charles is different: By the time you reach Act 2, you should have the ability to unlock his backroom. If not, a nearby quest to find a certain “Alois” will also give you the opportunity to gain access.

Once you find the room, you’ll see that Charles has an unsavory deal with a local gang to harvest dead bodies. Gather some evidence about it, and confront Charles. Choose to take his deal in return for looking the other way. You’ll get a massive 20% discount on everything he sells, perfect for getting cyber upgrades. Just remember to check his store first if there’s anything you need.

Use the Space Oddity Painting Glitch

As you move through the campaign, you’ll eventually be asked to head out to Santo Domingo. Here, there’s a gas station where you’ll receive the Space Oddity job just by getting close. You may need to travel around a bit to find it.

Space Oddity is an interesting quest: You find a specific location, take out the surrounding enemies, then pick up the special item, a valuable painting. You can sell this painting at a dropbox for a lot of cash, but the trick is that you can buy it back for only around 1/100th of what it sells for. That means you can sell it, exit the dropbox, go back in, and buy it back only to sell it again. It’s infinite money without the need to use a mod command!

Reroll Any Legendary Item

For this cheat, you’ll want to first find a mission that guarantees a legendary item as a reward (you can do this with other item drops, but it’s so randomized it’s difficult to guarantee). Gain access to the legendary reward and take a look at it, but don’t pick it up and put it in your inventory.

Instead, if the item isn’t perfect for you, save your game and exit out. Start the game again in the same spot: Restarting the game will randomize the loot you find. The guaranteed legendary item will still be legendary, but its stats and slots will change. You can reroll items this way until you find exactly what you want.

Craft Your Way to Success

You have the ability to craft basic weapons and sell them at a profit, especially with the right perks as you level. The key is finding a loop that benefits you when you turn scrap into weapons. One of the best ways is to simply collect soda cans from vending machines in Night City. Every time you pass a vending machine, max it out to buy all the cans you can, then pick them up off the ground. In your inventory, dismantle the cans for valuable scrap, then turn that scrap into weapons.

You should now be able to sell those weapons for more money than the cans cost, creating instant revenue. You can repeat this totally legitimate trick as many times as you want, getting a constant stream of money. You’ll also get experience from all the crafting. This method still seems to work, although it’s possible Projekt Red will alter it by the time they release the DLC.

Cyberpunk 2077 Cheats FAQ

Below, let’s go over some important questions players have about Cyberpunk 2077 and how to use cheats.

Will Cheat Codes Work on the Console Versions of the Game?

No. As we mentioned above, even the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 requires a mod to enable cheat codes. The option isn’t available at all if you’re playing on console. Fortunately, many of the other tricks we mentioned above still work on console.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 Still Being Updated? Will That Affect Cheat Codes?

Yes, the game has received many updates to address a variety of bugs. It’s also getting major DLC, called Phantom Liberty, so it’s likely patches will continue for some time. Technically, that means some of our cheats above may get patched as well, but for now they all seem to function just fine.
