Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle were legendary LucasArts adventure games. If you had a PC or NES as a kid, odds are you’re familiar with at least one of them. The latter is getting remastered for modern audiences by Double Fine, and it turns out the former is coming along for the ride.
Double Fine’s Vice President of Development, Matt Hansen, told Shacknews that Maniac Mansion would be included within Day of the Tentacle Remastered . In the original release, it was possible to play the predecessor in-game on a Commodore 64 look-a-like. This detail will remain, even in the same place as it was in the original game, but Maniac Mansion won’t be getting a visual upgrade. It will look the same as it did in the original Day of the Tentacle.
Day of the Tentacle Remastered will be released in 2016. You will be able to play both it and Maniac Mansion again on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Windows and Mac PCs.
