Death Stranding Might Involve Player Collaboration

Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game, Death Stranding , is a strange title that is shrouded in mystery; we know very little about the game at this point, and even what we do know doesn’t necessarily make a lot of sense. Still, Kojima is a trusted visionary and any glimpses of the world he is creating can seriously whet the appetite. Which is why hints like the one dropped by Mads Mikkelsen can stick to your brain.

In an interview with Total Film magazine, Mikkelsen said that the game’s “whole concept” has to do with players collaborating with one another from all over the globe. The game’s other star, Norman Reedus, had said something vaguely similar, when he revealed that there would be bits of social media present in the game. Kojima also alluded to this sort of connection. But whereas Reedus and Kojima made it sound like player connection was a fun little attribute of the game, Mikkelsen’s statement makes it sound crucial.

Considering the aspect of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain where players were challenged to decommission all their virtual nukes (they still haven’t) or the comment sections underneath Death Stranding articles, it is almost guaranteed that whatever player interaction Kojima envisions for his game will be interesting.
