In a press release that was published on Monday, July 1, Saints Row IV publisher Deep Silver announced a spin-off to the Dead Island series, entitled “ ESCAPE Dead Island ”, which will be a third-person singleplayer survival mystery game.
ESCAPE Dead Island tells the origins of the original zombie outbreak and is set between the original Dead Island and its sequel Dead Island 2 . Developed by Fatshark Sweden, the game is slated to release in Fall 2014 for Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s PlayStation 3 and PC.
The console versions of the game have been given a recommended retail price of £39.99, and the PC version of the game has been given a retail price of £34.99 (or your regional equivalent).
Being a survival mystery game, ESCAPE Dead Island follows the story of Cliff Calo, who have set themselves on an adventure to document the unexplained events that were rumored to have happened on Banoi.
Arriving on the island of Narapella, part of the Banoi archipelago, Calo finds that not everything is as it seems, and he is soon haunted by deja-vus. Calo will have to make sense of these deja-vus throughout the entire game.
Being a story driven adventure in of itself, ESPACE Dead Island is said to let you delve into the Dead Island universe and uncover what actually happened with the zombie outbreak and where it came from.
Furthermore, along with featuring Dead Islands’ key feature of meaty combat in a paradise setting, ESCAPE Dead Island adds a completely new stylistic tone to the zombie universe. These visually unique styles accompanies you on your struggle against insanity as you experience the secrets of the Dead Island universe and pave way for the events that will happen in Dead Island 2 .
