Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is an expansion pack for the massively popular action role-playing game Diablo III. The expansion launched in 2014, adding new depth and challenges to Diablo III. It was later included in the Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition for various consoles. The expansion includes new character classes, additional levels, new monsters and bosses, and quests. In this article, we’ll dive into the details of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and aid gamers looking for cheats, tips, and tricks.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Premise
The expansion continues the story of Diablo III after the defeat of Diablo. Players controlling the character known as Nephalem encounter a new threat in the form of Malthael, the former Archangel of Wisdom, now the Angel of Death. Malthael has stolen the Black Soulstone, containing the essence of the Great Evils. Players find new areas to explore, including the kingdom of Westmarch and other new settings in a completely new Act. They have to battle through Malthael’s forces to confront the new ultimate threat.
Reaper of Souls introduces various gameplay enhancements and new features. A new Crusader class, which takes inspiration from the Paladin from Diablo II, is added with new skills and abilities. The expansion also raises the level cap to 70 and removes the cap on Paragon levels, offering gamers more to play and achieve. Additionally, the end game is improved with the new Loot 2.0 system and Nephalem Rifts for more exciting and balanced loot drops and character development.
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Characters
Diablo III and the expansion Reaper of Souls features a story-driven narrative, where the player character, known as Nephalem, is in the midst of a war between the High Heaven and the Burning Hells. The Nephalem meets various characters on its journey to return balance and safety to the citizens of Sanctuary. In addition to variety in NPCs, the player character takes many forms, depending on the choices the player makes. The character is chosen from seven different character classes, one of which was introduced in this expansion. Additionally, players can affect how the character develops by choosing skills during the process. Let’s take a look at the character classes of the Nephalem and key non-player characters in the game.
Character Classes
- Barbarian: Barbarians are powerful melee warriors who excel in physical combat. They use their rage to unleash powerful attacks and leap into the heart of battle.
- Demon Hunter: Demon Hunters are specialized in hunting demons with crossbows and traps. These agile warriors are excellent in ranged combat, and they can use a mix of shadow magic and tactical skills.
- Monk: Monks are masters of martial arts that combine speed with precision attacks. They use their inner spirit for explosive combinations and have healing abilities.
- Necromancer: Necromancers control the powers of life and death by summoning undead minions and casting dark spells. They use corpses as weapons and can drain life from enemies. Added in Rise of the Necromancer DLC.
- Witch Doctor: Witch Doctors use voodoo magic, including casting curses and summoning creatures to help them in fights. They are skilled in crowd control and can use poison and minions to combat enemies.
- Wizard: Wizards wield elemental and arcane magic to protect themselves and deal massive damage to enemies. In addition, they possess the power to manipulate time and space, teleporting from one place to another
- Crusader: Crusaders are holy warriors in heavy armor, who use divine magic in combat. They are durable fighters, providing support through blessings and auras. Crusader is the new class in Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.
Non-Player Characters
- Malthael: Formerly the Archangel of Wisdom, Malthael is the primary antagonist and the final boss in Reaper of Souls. He becomes the Angel of Death and poses a significant threat to the world of Sanctuary after acquiring Black Soulstone.
- Tyrael: Once the Archangel of Justice, Tyrael becomes a mortal to aid humanity and the survival of the Sanctuary. In Reaper of Souls, he helps the Nephalem defeat Malthael’s forces and find the Angel of Death himself.
- Imperius: The Archangel of Valor and a member of the Angiris Council. Imperius guides Nephalem towards the Realm of Pandemonium.
- Lorath Nahr: Lorath is a member of the Hodradrim whose friends were killed by Mathael. He was sent by Tyrael to find the Nephalem, who had previously killed Diablo. He finds at the outskirts of Westmarch and guides him to help deal with the armies of darkness and their leader Malthael.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Cheats
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, just like the base game, doesn’t include traditional cheat codes available to the player. While players are not able to aid their progress with cheats, there are some things we can reveal. Let’s start with the secret Cow level and then go into trophies and achievements.
Access Not a Cow Level
In Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, players can access the so-called Not a Cow Level. Unlike the level’s name suggests, this level is indeed filled with bovine enemies and a Cow Princess. Getting there, however, requires the use of a unique item called the Bovine Bardiche or finding a very rare random Rift Portal. Here’s how to get the Bovine Bardiche to open the portal.
- First, you need to get a Bovine Bardiche. This item is a legendary polearm that can drop randomly from any enemy, chest, or breakable object in the game. It can also be obtained through Kadala via Blood Shard gambling or by upgrading rare polearms in Kanai’s Cube.
- The item can be created by upgrading polearms in Kanai’s Cube and randomly getting the Bovine Bardiche.
- Once you have the Bovine Bardiche, open Kanai’s Cube. This powerful artifact is located in The Ruins of Sescheron in Act III.
- Place the Bovine Bardiche into Kanai’s Cube and select to transmute. Instead of the usual item transformation or upgrade, this will open a portal to the Not a Cow Level. This will also destroy the weapon in the process.
