Digital Versions of Destiny on PS3 / Xbox 360 get Free Upgrade to PS4 / Xbox One

Digital Versions of Destiny on PS3 / Xbox 360 get Free Upgrade to PS4 / Xbox One

As reported by Joystiq on Friday, September 5, Bungie has announced that you’ll be able to upgrade the digital versions of the recently released Destiny from Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 to their respective successors, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

You’re able to redeem a free upgrade to the digital downloadable version of Destiny on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE.

The opportunity applies to the digital base edition and the digital “Guardian” edition of Destiny , and it also includes the expansion pass for the game. What’s more, you’ll still be able to continue playing where you left off on the previous-gen version of the game if you upgrade to the current-gen version. You’ll also still be able to continue playing the original previous-gen version if you so wish.

This doesn’t mean that you can redeem a PlayStation 3 version of the game onto an Xbox One; the deal only applies to within each brand family, PlayStation and Xbox. Game saves will also be transferable across a respective family, but they cannot interconnect between each other.

Furthermore, the deal doesn’t apply to physical copies of Destiny ; it applies to digital versions only. However, the expansion pass that comes with some physical copies can be upgraded for free, but you’ll need an already-bought fully copy of the game on either the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4 in order to use it.

You can visit Bungie’s FAQ on the matter if you want to know more details via the second source link below. Destiny is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. A PC version of Destiny is currently “ a heavy point of discussion. ” We’ll bring you more news on Destiny should further information reach our ears.
