Disgaea on PC Is a Little Buggy, Dood

Disgaea is a bizarre franchise, which has made it a fan favorite for years now. Disgaea PC is a port of the PSP game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, which was released in 2003. You’d think that, by now, it’d be a piece of cake to get this thing up and running on PCs without a hitch. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case, as many people are experiencing severe performance issues: unresponsiveness, freezes, screen-tearing, and flickering to name a handful. It’s worth mentioning, though, that not everybody is experiencing problems.

The problems have been widespread enough to merit a response from NIS. In a post on Steam NIS had this to say: “We spent a total of ten months on researching and developing this game for PC users, two months of which were spent on rigorous testing. However, we have been made aware of the fact that some of our customers have been experiencing issues when playing the game. We will do our absolute best to fix these issues as quickly as possible, and we will make sure that all your voices are heard by the dev team.” In the meantime, players have reported that you can improve performance by disabling all of the graphical bells and whistles; blur, depth of field, and SSAO might be throwing off your groove. Expect a patch soon, and we’ll keep you updated, dood.
