Dragon’s Crown Now Under Atlus’ Wing

Dragon’s Crown Now Under Atlus’ Wing

Dragon’s Crown, the 2D brawling beat ‘em up by Vanillaware, has recently had a bit of a publisher change-up.

The publishing rights were previously in the hands of UTV Ignition, but Atlus will now be taking over publishing duties and will be assisting Vanillaware on the game’s development. Atlus has worked with Vanillaware in the past on titles such as Odin Sphere.

Dragon’s Crown was originally slated to come out later this year at a $30.00 price point. However, the game has now been pushed back to 2013, and the price point seems no longer accurate.

“It’s still way too early in development to be talking about specifics, but we can say that the game simply cannot retail for $29.99,” said Aram Jabbari, Atlus PR manager, posting on the PlayStation Blog. “We don’t know where that price point came from, but it is a logistical impossibility. We’re all gamers and we all wished it could be so, but it would have essentially destroyed any chance for profitability.”
