Following the unexpected success of their abrupt action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma , Capcom has now confirmed a handheld counterpart that will be exclusive to the Vita. The not-so-spiritual successor Dragon’s Dogma Quest is adopting mobile tactics and will be a 2D RPG, likely similar to that of Dragon’s Crown , a Vanillaware title.
However, several elements from the original game will be carried over into Quest , despite the dramatic shift in genre. Players will still be able to summon pawns into their world, and dungeon-based quests will be returning with over 150 jobs to choose from. Players will also be able to play cooperatively in the same world through four player co-op. How Dragon’s Dogma canon may be implemented is not yet clear, nor has a definite release date been disclosed, leaving the game’s Japanese release at Fall 2014, and a stateside localization probable but unconfirmed.
