Dragon’s Dogma Breaks The Million Mark

Dragon’s Dogma Breaks The Million Mark

None

Dragon’s Dogma, Capcom’s answer to games like Dark Souls, has now shipped over one million units worldwide.

This is Capcom’s 55th title that has topped the one million mark, and was the highest selling title in Japan in the month of May. Because of its success, Capcom is looking to develop the brand into a major franchise. Expect to see Dragon’s Dogma 2 come out in a few years, if the Capcom model still holds true. Heck, we might even see Dragon’s Dogma spinoffs and side stories.

Dragon’s Dogma’s coolest feature is the ability to create pawns that then are available to hire in other people’s games. Everyone develops one pawn, equipping them and fleshing out their abilities, but your maximum party size is four. This means you get to enlist two pawns of other players into your party, and when you send them off they bring the spoils of war back to their owner.

However, this brings up a serious problem with turning the IP into a long-running franchise. Will Capcom allow people to keep the characters they developed between titles? Considering a sequel to the game hasn’t even been announced yet, we cannot be sure.
