Last night, Evolution Studios confirmed in a post over on their Driveclub Facebook page that a release date and more details about their racing game would be revealed in a few weeks. They went on to mention that they are absolutely proud with how the game is coming along and thanked the fans for their ongoing support of the title amidst the lack of updates over the last couple of months.
Driveclub was originally supposed to launch with the PS4 last November. Since then, the game has come under scrutiny thanks in part to the departure of the game’s director last month. Recent rumors have suggested that the game may be coming out on June 12 th , but Sony has neither confirmed nor denied these claims yet.
Hearing this news is reassuring, but I find myself questioning if the game will even do well now. If Driveclub does end up launching on the rumored June 12 th date, it will be during the E3 2014 conference in Los Angeles. By then, everyone will solely be focused on the games coming out this fall. Of course, I could still be wrong and Driveclub may actually prove to be a success for Sony. Either way, we don’t have to wait too much longer now to find out how this all plays out.
