Dungeon Siege Film Takes Digger at Box Office

Dungeon Siege Film Takes Digger at Box Office

None

The first weekend results for In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale were dismal despite a broad marketing campaign that encompassed both internet and television advertising. According to Box Office Mojo, the film only grossed an estimated $3,265,000 and finished out of the top ten at number 14.

The film is based on the successful RPG series developed by Gas Powered Games. The success of the video games did not translate into ticket sales however, as the gaming faithful was simply not buying what director Uwe Boll was selling. The film was shown at 1,631 theaters and averaged only about $2,000 per venue. If you were waiting to see this movie for fear of large crowds, you were mistaken. Now you had better hustle because the film may be out of theaters before long.
