EA Covers-Up 2013 Forum Hack

EA Covers-Up 2013 Forum Hack

We live in an age where our entire lives play out in the digital world. As a result, we face security threats that endanger our privacy on almost a daily basis. Unfortunately, the gaming industry is no different.

It was recently revealed (by a source via reddit ) that EA was not only the victim of hacking back in 2013, but sought to cover-up this fact from its users. During the period which the attack occurred, the forum was supposedly taken down due to simple “maintenance.” However, some speculate this was an emergency measure to stop the further compromising of personal data.

EA has since responded in an official statement, confirming some info was leaked, but that there investigation “…revealed no evidence of other information being accessed including passwords, names, security questions, payment information or any other sensitive data that could permit access to an online account.”
