Epic Games Completes People Can Fly Buyout

Gears of War developer Epic Games has completed its purchase of Bulletstorm creator People Can Fly. Epic had already acquired a majority share of the company in 2007 and now it has completed a full buyout of the studio.

The purchase of the Poland-based developer, however, led to the departure of its founder, Adrian Chmielarz, as well as fellow employees Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki.



Epic Games Vice president Mark Rein told Polygon that Epic “doubled down on People Can Fly,” which is “something we always hoped to do.” Rein also assured fans that the development of Gears of War: Judgment—with Chmielarz’s exit resulting in him leaving the game’s creative lead role—will not be negatively affected.
