EVE Online Hits 500,000 Subscribers

EVE Online Hits 500,000 Subscribers

While MMOs that have a huge fanbase are impressive, MMOs that steadily grow even though they have been around for a decade are even moreso. EVE Online may not be World of Warcraft, but it has an incredibly strong and dedicated base of followers that support it even though it’s been around for ten years. The game just surpassed 500,000 paying subscribers, a milestone in its history.

According to developer CCP, the game isn’t going anywhere. New plans will be announced at the Eve Fanfest convention, being held at the end of April. Some of these improvement may include changes to how fleets are displayed, changes to facilitate massive space fights, and other tweaks to the system to support the emergent gameplay that has cropped up in EVE Online over the years.

EVE is a testament to the power that MMOs have in the gaming community. It may not be the most popular game out there, but it gives its players what they want and does so well. CCP hopes that EVE will be around for another ten years if their fans will continue to support them.
