Developed by Lionhead Studios, Fable III is a popular action RPG released in 2010. It was the passion project of famous game developer Peter Molyneux, initially released exclusively for Xbox 360. The game later made its way to PC, introducing the game to a whole new audience. While reception to Fable III was initially positive, it proved to be the last mainline title in the franchise, with Lionhead Studios eventually closing its doors in 2016.
Fable III Premise
As an RPG, Fable III does a great job of ensuring your choices are at the heart of the experience, with the stakes higher than ever. Fable III takes you on a journey of revolution, as you look to usurp your sibling from the throne as his evil regime causes chaos across the land of Albion. Along the way, you’ll fight many different types of enemies using a standard combat triangle of melee, magic, and ranged attacks. The combat in Fable III isn’t the deepest in-game mechanic, but it gets the job done adequately.
Nearly every action you take in Fable III is deemed good or evil by the game’s morality system and affects the rewards you receive through guild seals and gifts. It can also be affected by the game’s many side quests, which take you from one side of Albion to the other.
If you’re looking for a more low-key experience, Fable III offers that, too. You can start a relationship with any NPC in the game, assuming their sexuality is compatible with your chosen gender. You can then marry and have children with them, ignoring the main quest entirely in favor of a quiet life.
Fable III Main Characters
You’ll meet plenty of different characters on your journey across Albion, but the adventure focuses on the story of the Royal Family, and how its infighting affects the people of the land. While the overall quest is large in scale, the actual story itself is quite self-contained and small. These are the main characters at the heart of it all:
- The Hero of Brightwall: You play through Fable III as the Hero of Brightwall, an exiled member of the Royal Family. The Hero of Brightwall’s main task in the Fable III narrative is to build support for a revolution against the tyrannical King Logan. You’ll be making promises to multiple groups to gain the support of entire regions. As the Hero of Brightwall, you eventually find yourself as King or Queen yourself, where you must make a series of difficult decisions about your royal subjects.
- King Logan: The main antagonist of Fable III, King Logan is also your brother in this unique family story. He is known as a tyrant across Albion, and it’s up to you to stop him. At the end of the revolution, you face the biggest choice of all: execute your sibling for his crimes, or spare him and have him become an ally.
- The Dog: Your canine companion in Fable III accompanies you throughout your entire adventure. Besides being totally adorable, they bring several abilities to help you along the way. The dog can help you find buried treasure across the world. If you want to take a more personal approach, you can even play fetch with them! They’ll put themselves into harm’s way during combat, dying if you’re not careful.
- Jasper: As butler of the Royal Family, Jasper served both King Logan and the Hero of Brightwall over the years. After being relieved of his duties to King Logan, he serves the Hero of Brightwall throughout Fable III, offering his advice on how to gain allies to the revolution. While living in Sanctuary throughout most of the game, Jasper will even offer his opinions on the many different outfits you can equip in Fable III — not that we asked.
Games in the Fable Series
Microsoft would include Fable among its flagship first-party franchises during the 6th and 7th console generations. It’s been a long time since those days, with Fable III standing as the last mainline entry in the series. Everything released since has either been a spinoff or a remake, but there’s hope for fans yet. A Fable reboot is in development by Playground Games, most commonly known for its work on the Forza Horizon series. Although gamers currently have limited information about the upcoming title, it hopefully signals the complete return of one of gaming’s great RPGs.

Fable III Cheat Codes
Sadly, Lionhead Studios never included any official cheat codes in Fable III. To have anything resembling a cheat, you’ll have to jump through a couple of extra hoops and exploit a few glitches along the way. That’s something we can certainly help with!
Infinite Money:
For this method, you’ll need access to a few things: one character with access to the Treasury, a second controller, and a second profile that has money in Fable III.
- Sign into the second profile using the second controller.
- Interact with the second profile on your main character, and press LB to enter a business partnership with them. You only have to do this once.
- Enter Sanctuary on your main profile, and head to the Treasury.
- Deposit both profiles’ gold into the Treasury. You should end up with 0 “Personal Balance.”
- Sign out of the second profile.
- Sign in with the second profile again.
- You’ll be able to re-deposit the second profile’s gold into the Treasury again, without it ever saving the progress.
- Continue signing in and out of the second profile, re-depositing the gold every time. This results in infinite money in Fable III!
Infinite Guild Seals:
There’s also a method to get infinite guild seals in Fable III. Again, you’ll need two controllers and two profiles.
- Play the quest “The New Hero,” until just before you pick up the music box.
- Save the game with the main profile.
- Join the game with the second profile.
- Pick up the music box.
- Instead of entering Road to Rule, save on the second profile and leave the game.
- Enter Sanctuary as the main profile.
- Sign out of the main profile and sign back in.
- You’ll load back in next to the music box. Repeat these steps to get infinite guild seals.
These steps take about a minute to complete and net you 50 guild seals.
Mods:
If you’re a PC player, there are some mods that you can download that remove the grind from the game. Most notably, there is the Augment Rework and Weapon Normalization mod, which reduces all weapon augment requirements in Fable III by 3-10x, as well as a variety of other miscellaneous fixes.
Unfortunately, this option isn’t available to Xbox players, who must use glitches to get their fix of Fable III cheats.
Fable III Cheat Code FAQs
Why Are There No Fable III Cheats?
It’s unclear why Lionhead Studios chose not to include cheats in Fable III. It was the same in the original two games. Players had to use glitches and exploits in order to cheat in the Fable titles, so it’s not a massive surprise that the third followed the same pattern.
Fable III came at a time when studios were just beginning to experiment with paid DLC cosmetics, and allowing gamers to have fun cheat outfits could take away from that. It would certainly explain the lack of cosmetic cheats, at least.
Will Fable III Cheats Be Patched?
If the developers patched any remaining cheating exploits in Fable III, it would be a massive surprise. With Lionhead Studios closed down and support for the game long gone, there’s no reason to assume anyone will come along to fix them.
If you use one and find that it no longer works, you can always clear your Xbox 360 hard drive cache to play without any patches. In this scenario, you’d have to make sure that you’re always playing Fable III offline.
Does Fable III Have Console Commands?
PC players will know that console commands can often be a great way to cheat in games. However, the Fable III PC port is pretty barebones, and as a result, the title does not include in-game command console functionality. This means that there’s no way to use console commands in Fable III.
