Fallout 4’s Modding Community Will Be HUGE

Fallout 4’s Modding Community Will Be HUGE

Fallout 4 is a big deal. Ever since it was announced just before E3 2015, people have been talking about the title. It’s electric. But then, what installment in one of Bethesda’s flagship series isn’t? People have strong feelings about these games, which is part of their success. It’s also why Fallout 4 mods are going to overwhelm the internet in 2015 and 2016.

This is one prediction I can guarantee will come true. Fallout 4 is going to turn into one of the most modded games in existence. I know titles like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Sims seem to have incredibly active communities, but wait and see. A number of forces are brewing to ensure already that Fallout 4 mods are going to be everywhere in 2015, 2016, and who knows how many years to come.

A big part of it is Bethesda’s openness when it comes to modding the company’s games. It knows its going to happen. It’s seen what people can do with games like Skyrim . So, when it comes to Fallout 4 , it’s already working to ensure people will have the support they want and need. One of the more specific measures mentioned is that Fallout 4 will allow someone to make an additional save game backup, which will then be the one used for mods. This would ensure the safety of the original, “canon” save.

But the Fallout 4 mod scene is also going to be of an unprecedented size because of the promise of compatibility. Bethesda has already said that it won’t only be the PC versions of the game getting mods from people who love the series enough to make them. At E3 2015, Bethesda said PC mods will eventually be able to be enjoyed on the PS4 and Xbox One. The Xbox One should even have them in the beginning of 2016. Knowing that these fan creations will have an extended audience is only going to inspire people to do and create more.

A testament to this assertion is the fact that people are already working on Fallout 4 mods. To be more specific, Zealotlee is working on a Rail Rifle mod for Fallout 4 . Yes, the game isn’t out yet. There’s no official framework for building them. The rollout for PC mod support isn’t even scheduled to begin until 2016. But, that hasn’t stopped people like Zealotlee from starting to work on a Rail Rifle, putting together images of how it will look in game, and even plotting out its modifications.

Fallout 4’s Modding Community Will Be HUGE

It shows an innate devotion to a product. Fallout 4 isn’t even here yet. It won’t be until November 10, 2015. Yet, there are fans like Zealotlee that are so dedicated to Bethesda and the brand that they aren’t going to let a little thing like the game not existing yet get in their way. They’re already working to make Fallout 4 mods happen.

You don’t see that often with games, and it’s one of the many reasons I truly believe Fallout 4 will end up being the most modded game of this generation. There’s too much love for the series for it not to be. Especially since Bethesda is going out of its way to again make a game that’s not only mod-friendly on PCs, but consoles for the first time as well. It’s a big deal, and will likely result in a title that will remain active and engaging for years after its release.
