The Elder Scrolls 6 Won’t Be Announced Until It’s Done

Back in June 2016, Bethesda’s Todd Howard confirmed that there will be an Elder Scrolls 6 . He confirmed the developer was working on the game during YouTube Live at E3, but also said the game won’t be out for a long time. Now, the developer’s Vice President, Pete Hines, has talked a bit more about the next Elder Scrolls game with PC Gamer . Don’t get too excited, though, because the news isn’t exactly good.

To be exact, Hines told PC Gamer, “You’re not going to be hearing first details on [ Elder Scrolls 6 ] years before the game comes out, absolutely not.” Instead, he said that it will be like Fallout 4 . For those who don’t recall, the official announcement for that came on June 3, 2015, and the game itself followed on November 10, 2015. Given Bethesda’s release schedules, that’d mean a spring announcement for Elder Scrolls 6 , followed by a winter release.

You have to appreciate that sort of mindset. It keeps there from being this long period of hype, where we worry about delays and information gradually trickles out. Especially since games like this can be suddenly delayed. Who knows if Skyrim or Fallout 4 had developmental issues or delays? A little mystery can add to the excitement, and maybe it will help us appreciate Elder Scrolls 6 more.
