Far Cry 5 has a secret ending, much like Far Cry 4. And the timing of the secret end is similar to Far Cry 4. Instead of completing the whole game for a secret ending, after the initial cinematic and introduction, the game gives you a choice. Far Cry 5 was well received when it was released on March 27, 2018, carrying on the wonderful tradition of the Far Cry series. The game is chaotically fun, and perfectly encapsulates the feeling of a deadly cult following. Players will be thrust into a high-stakes drama filled with action, fun characters, and plenty of choices to make. The game will feel different depending on what decisions you make, and who you save. Some will seek to help, while others will only hinder.
Far Cry 5 Premise
Far Cry 5 is set in the fictional Hope County, Montana, a serene and picturesque region that a doomsday cult has infiltrated. Known as the “Project at Eden’s Gate,” the charismatic and sinister Joseph Seed leads it. Gamers will play the deputy sheriff, who has been ordered to arrest Joseph Seed. The player must rally local resistance fighters, forge alliances, and engage in intense combat to liberate the county from the cult’s control. They must navigate a dynamic, open world filled with dangerous wildlife, hostile cultists, and challenging missions. The game delves into themes of extremism, manipulation, and the blurred lines between faith and fanaticism, offering players a compelling and action-packed narrative experience.
The Far Cry 5 secret ending is accessible once players enter the cultists’ church during the opening sequence. Once inside the church, gamers will be prompted to handcuff Joseph Seed. If you want to see the alternate ending, don’t press the button. Keep waiting while your partners shout at you to put the handcuffs on. After about a minute or two of waiting, the sheriff with the mustache will speak up and tell everyone to leave. It will show the officers hopping back into the helicopter and flying off as the credits roll.
It’s not nearly as connected compared to Far Cry 4.
After the Far Cry 4‘s intro, you’re left alone by Min to enjoy a meal. The game takes an unnatural time for him to return, so most players go, prompting them to start the game. But what if you stay? What if you’re patient? If you wait a full 15 minutes, Min will return.
Turns out, he’s not such a bad person and allows you to spread your mother’s ashes where she requested, which turns out to be next to her daughter. And surprise, that’s Min’s daughter as well. This is all information you find out eventually anyway if you don’t stay for 15 minutes, but now you can join his side.
Sadly, you don’t play the whole game on his side, the game just ends, but it does imply you’re starting a very different story.
Far Cry 4 gives multiple ways to end the game and even rewards players with a similar ending, explaining the entire mission with the ashes. It connects the actual secret ending to the real conclusion. That’s not the case for Far Cry 5. In the fifth game, it shows the pathway of least resistance. If the sheriff and deputy at the beginning of the game decide just to leave, the game just ends. It basically asks the question on whether this would be worth it.
