Final Fantasy is one of the most important RPG series we have as gamers. It’s also a series that constantly iterates on itself, and every few years it perfects its design philosophy before completely reinventing itself. That’s what makes it so great as a series and why people love the stand-out releases, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 9, and the phenomenal Final Fantasy 6. No matter if you’re a fan or a newcomer to the series, Final Fantasy 6 is a must-play. Even if you just like RPGs, this title is one of the best retro experiences.
Final Fantasy 6 Advance Premise
Final Fantasy 6 Advance was released on February 5, 2007. Similar to the other Game Boy Advance re-releases of the classic Final Fantasy titles this release added many new features. Some of these features include bonus dungeons, a new super boss, and many bug fixes. Unfortunately, this version of Final Fantasy 6 might not be the best way to experience it as it has its unique problems. An example is that it has lower sound quality than the original Super Nintendo version.
Final Fantasy 6 Main Characters
- Terra Branford: The protagonist of Final Fantasy 6. Terra is a girl who spent most of her young life being trained to be a weapon for the Empire.
- Locke Cole: A “treasure hunter” and rebel sympathizer.
- Edgar Roni Figaro: The king of Figaro and Locke’s friend. He fakes allegiance to the Empire while secretly supplying the Returners.

Save Shadow
When the world is collapsing on the Floating Continent and you only have six minutes to get off, go to the end where you can jump down to the airship. Instead of jumping, wait and do not move. When there are five seconds left on the clock, Shadow will appear and jump down to the airship with you instead of dying.
Glitches
Save and heal almost anywhere in multi-team dungeons
Have one of your teams in a multi-team dungeon move to a save point. Then, switch to one of your other teams. As long as you remain stationary with this second team, you can save your game as well as use a Sleeping Bag or Tent for quick healing. If your party moves out of place or if you want to save or use a Tent again later, just switch back to the team at the save point. Then, switch back to the party you wish to save/heal with, remain in one space, then do as you want.
Easy Diabolos Magicite
The following trick allows you to get the Diabolos Magicite without having to defeat the Kaiser Dragon, the hardest Boss in the game. First, reach the Kaiser Dragon in the Dragon’s Den and stand directly in front of him without pressing A to initiate the fight. Go to your menu and select “Equip”, then go into any of your characters’ equip screen. After checking your equipment in front of the Kaiser Dragon, exit the menu and hold Forward to walk through the Kaiser Dragon and be able to proceed without fighting him. Then, walk to the shiny light, collect the Diabolos Magicite, and take the warp back outside the dungeon. Note: This will not unlock the Soul Shrine. You must defeat the Kaiser Dragon normally to unlock it.
Get Mythril Pike and Mythril Shield early
While in the mines during the save Terra scenario with Locke and the Moogles, go to Mog’s party and unequip Mog of his Mythril Pike and Mythril Shield.
Extra experience for Terra
In the beginning, when you first enter Narshe with the two imperial soldiers, use Terra’s fire magic to kill off the two guards. All the experience will be directed to Terra, the main character.
Intangir
The Intangir enemy can no longer be affected by the Vanish-Doom trick. However, you can use a new glitch called the Confuse-Smoke Bomb glitch. First, go to Triangle Island and walk around until you encounter Intangir. Once you’re in battle, cast Confuse on the character you plan to use. Quickly go to the item menu and select the Smoke Bomb item. Due to a glitch in the game, your character will be confused and will use the smoke bomb item on Intangir which will kill Intangir, but it will counterattack with Meteor. Use this trick to quickly earn 10 AP magic points for your characters’ magic spells early on in the World of Balance.
Item Duplication
At the end of the game, it is possible to duplicate equipment. Note that you must have this duplicated equipment on Terra. During the tiered, sequence battle at the end of the game, end each battle such that only Terra is alive. When the final battle starts, you’ll find that there are two Terras in the fight. The equipment of this second Terra can be removed without affecting that of the first, although you must also unequip the first.
Psycho Cyan Advance
There is a famous glitch from the SNES version that can be done in this version. However, the steps have changed. First, while in battle, kill Cyan and then revive him right after. Next, have Cyan use his level 2 Bushido, “Sky”. After that have someone cast “Imp” on Cyan. Once the before steps have been completed, Cyan will continuously attack, uninterrupted until every single enemy is defeated.
Skip Kaiser Dragon
This glitch will allow you to skip the very difficult Kaiser Dragon battle. This glitch will also allow players to get the Diabolos Magicite it guards without battling. Make sure you save first. With the Sprint Shoes equipped and Auto-Dash in the Config menu. First, stand in front of the Kaiser Dragon. Then open the menu and quickly tap the D-Pad northward as if you’re trying to get past him. If done correctly, you’ll move into the Kaiser Dragon and then can finish going through him to the Magicite.
Game Shark Codes
The codes below require a third-party device like Game Shark to work. Game Shark injects code into a game to alter its gameplay. This can cause unintended glitches in a game or its saved files. If used improperly, you can wipe your saved file or worse, completely break your game. BE SURE TO USE THE FOLLOWING CODES WITH CAUTION. If you are emulating Final Fantasy 6 Advance then these codes should work still as long as your emulator supports Game Shark Codes.
