Many MMOs go through the process of having both closed and open betas to ensure that the final product is ready to go on release day. Final Fantasy XIV is no different, having already been running a closed beta and set to start their open beta earlier today. However, as if following Murphy’s Law, something could and did go wrong with the open beta.  Square Enix has officially postponed the open beta for Final Fantasy XIV due to “a confirmation of critical bugs,” according to their website. The issuing of registration code for the open beta has also been put on hold by the company. Things aren’t looking too good for Final Fantasy XIV at this rate, with the open beta being postponed, no date being given for when it will commence in the future, the confirmation of critical bugs, and the game’s release date (September 22 for Collector’s Edition owners) rapidly approaching.
