While we have previously reported on the delay of the Final Fantasy XIV open beta, the issues that led to it were presumably quickly addressed and the beta was able to proceed the next day. However, a new problem has apparently began to crop up, as Square Enix is now limiting the number of beta codes being given out (via Eurogamer).  A statement on the game’s account page states “Currently, players may not be able to log into the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, or acquire registration codes for the game. Our technical staff is monitoring the situation closely and working to resolve this issue. As a countermeasure to the congestion, we are currently limiting the acquisition of registration codes for the Open Beta Test. If you cannot acquire a registration code, or if you are unable to access the Square Enix Account Management System, we ask that you please wait and try again later.” While this may be frustrating to those looking to partake in the open beta, it should help Square Enix to get a preview of the server strain to expect when the game is released later this month. |
