Final Fantasy XIV Pay-To-Play Dated

Final Fantasy XIV Pay-To-Play Dated

None

A while ago, we mentioned that Final Fantasy XIV needs a massive overhaul. In the meantime, players who would otherwise need to pay a subscription fee are playing for free while Square Enix is hard at work on a 2.0 patch that fixes the game’s many issues.

Things seem to be going smoothly, as Square has come forward to say that the game will be going back to a paid subscription model on January 6 of 2012. At this point, anyone who has not signed up for some sort of subscription option will have their accounts suspended, rather than being automatically billed.

According to Gamasutra, the price points are as follows: You can play the game for thirty days for $6.99, 90 days for $17.97, or half a year for $29.94.

The 2.0 update will launch sometime between October and December of 2012, with a PS3 beta version landing around the same time. Yes, this means that you will still have a year of paying for the game before the big fix comes out.
