From Orcish Football To Lance Armstrong?

From Orcish Football To Lance Armstrong?

None

Perhaps you haven’t heard of Cyanide Studios, the development team behind the electronic adaptation of Games Workshops’ Blood Bowl fantasy sports game. Mind you, “fantasy,” in this case, refers less to the statistics involved with each game and more with the fact that said games are being played by orcs and elves. Yes, Blood Bowl is a Warhammer universe product, setting football against the game’s infamously brutal backdrop.

What even fewer of you may have known, however, is that Cyanide Studios is no stranger to more mundane sports titles, including a series of Pro Cycling Manager games. This is appropriate, since the developer’s latest project is an official game for the Tour de France bike race, appropriately titled Tour de France: The Official Game. In this title, players will control an individual rider through all 21 stages of the famous bike race, but will also engage in team management, harboring grudges and making alliances with other cyclists.

Though the game has only been announced for publication in Europe thus far, the United States tends to have a soft spot for sports in which one of their own has been an extremely eminent figure. It will be released on July 1, just in time for the 98th Tour de France.
