Mafia III is an action-adventure game developed by Hangar 13, released in 2016 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Upon release, the game received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. The setting, gunplay, story, and characters are highly praised, but the game’s repetitive nature is a common complaint. The missions are seen as identical copies of one another, making every mission the same. Despite the mixed reviews, Mafia III was a commercial success selling over 7 million copies worldwide.
This success also led to the development of a fourth game in the series. While not much is known, fans have speculated that the game will take place in Sicily in the early 20th century. This would make it a prequel to the original Mafia game. No release date is known at this time, but there have been sightings of job postings and meaning the game is in pre-production. Given the time it takes to create a game, fans will have to wait a few years before playing Mafia IV.
Mafia III Premise
One of the best features of the game is the writing and story. The game is set in 1968 New Orleans and is made up of ten districts, giving players a unique world to explore. Players follow the story of Lincoln Clay as he sets out for revenge on the mob who murdered his family. Lincoln teams up with three other mob families as well as a CIA operative to take down the Marcano Family. The mobs will battle against each other in order to gain control of New Bordeaux.
While the game is limited in its side mission, with the main focus being on the objective at hand, players have a variety of options. Lincoln can collect 50 Playboy magazines scattered throughout the city for players to find. Players can also enjoy sightseeing in the beautiful city of New Orleans, drive around, rob stores, kill enemies, and mess around in the open world. While the game doesn’t have an open sandbox like Grand Theft Auto, players can make their own fun using their creativity and imagination. Fans have expressed their desire to have a world with more gameplay options and activities to compete in.

Mafia III Cheat Codes
Unfortunately for players, Mafia III does not feature any cheat codes on any of the systems. Any alterations to the game would be through mods, glitches, or exploits. As game development becomes more advanced and with modding communities bigger than ever, there is less reason to add cheat codes to video games today. Some developers also believe that it will take away from the experience and immersion of the game. While Mafia III would be fun with cheat codes, players should experience the story for themselves.
Players wishing to have more options outside the main questlines can find 50 Playboy magazines scattered around the city. This offers a challenge and a fun scavenger hunt to take your mind away from the heavy plotlines. You can also play optional side missions that reward you with money, achievements, and supplies.
Mafia III Cheat Code FAQ
How do you use cheats in Mafia 3?
Players cannot use cheats in Mafia III due to there being no support from the devs. Any changes you wish to make, such as unlimited money or invulnerability, will have to be done through the use of mods. While the original game featured cheat codes, they are no longer supported in the series. This went as far as removing cheat codes in Mafia: Definitive Edition, a remake of Mafia that had cheats in it.
How do you unlock all weapons in Mafia 3?
All weapons can be unlocked by playing through the story’s main missions. While some require you to complete side missions, most guns can be obtained after receiving the Arms Dealer perk. The perk allows you to purchase weapons, ammunition, car modifications, supplies, and other upgrades anywhere in New Bordeaux.
