Gamescom 2011: SSX Ghost Details Revealed

None

Snowboading game franchise SSX has been out of the spotlight for some time, but it’s coming back with a brand new installment simply titled SSX.

A recent story by IGN reveals some of the new features this SSX will have. First of all, there will be over 150 courses, modeled after many of the world’s major mountain ranges. Players will be able to zoom in on the individual ranges in order to check out the peaks and drops on the course. Players will also have to partake in survival challenges and minigames such as outrunning an avalanche. All this we already knew before Gamescom.

However, some new details on the Ghost feature were unveiled. SSX will include a system that tracks all your times and scores for all of your tracks and uploads them to an online database. Friends will be notified when you set a record that bests their own, and will then be able to race against your ghost on their track. Beating a ghost earns you money, which then allows you to unlock more boards, tracks, and boarders in the game’s store. Not only that, but this is totally playable offline as well. If you beat a ghost while offline, your monetary awards will simply be there the next time you log in.
