GameStop Sets Date For Wii U Advertising

GameStop Sets Date For Wii U Advertising

None

When is the Wii U coming out? How much will it cost? Neither question was given a specific answer at this year’s E3, despite Nintendo’s laser-like focus on their latest hardware iteration. The new console was paraded and playable, but we have been left to speculate on how much it will cost, what will be under the hood, and, most importantly, when we’ll be able to play it at home.

It appears that we may be on the verge of such revelations, though, as GameStop has confirmed (in the wake of a picture someone snapped of a Wii U promotional display in a store) that the official launch date for its Wii U promotional campaign is August 13. That’s this coming Monday. These promotional materials, further, have been received directly from Nintendo, so it would appear the Big N is ready to advertise the Wii U in earnest.

Advertising something that one cannot sell, in any capacity, is generally bad practice and so, even though the Wii U SKU has yet to show up in the GameStop system, it seems likely that the console will be up for pre-order in the very near future. And that means a release date and a price.
