Earlier today, Nintendo confirmed in a press release that customers who register a Nintendo 3DS and one of six select games through Club Nintendo will receive a code for a free copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y . The promotion lasts the entire month of March and also applies to both the Nintendo 3DS XL and 2DS handheld systems.
The 6 games that are eligible for this promotion include Animal Crossing: New Leaf , Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D , Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins , Mario Kart 7 , Super Mario 3D Land , and Yoshi’s New Island . After registering any one of these titles through Club Nintendo, customers will then receive a code for either Pokémon X or Pokémon Y that must be redeemed by May 31 th.
The Nintendo 3DS had an impressive year in 2013 thanks in part to several major releases. After hearing this news, it seems like Nintendo is doing a great job to reinforce their stance on the device. While it would have been nice to include either The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds or Bravely Default to the list, the company could always end up using both of these titles to boost a future promotion down the road.
