Global Finals for WCS Take Place at BlizzCon 2014

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed that the Global Finals of the StarCraft II World Championship Series (WCS) will be taking place at this year’s BlizzCon in Anaheim, California.

The top 16 StarCraft II players will be invited to attend the event based off of WCS Standings (basically the global leaderboard of StarCraft II players), which will be taking place on Friday, November 7 through to Saturday, November 8. The participants are given all of October to developer their own strategies and to prepare themselves to take home the “Global Champion” title.

All 16 players will battle each other in a single-elimination bracket, where the WCS Standings will determine each player’s initial seeding. The round for the championship will be a best-of-seven series, whereas all the other matches leading up to that round will be  best-of-five. The player to walk away with the Global Championship title will also walk away with $100,000 in their pocket. The World Championship Series, including all the other eSports events and BlizzCon, will be streamed live and free of charge over one BlizzCon.com and Twitch.

Blizzard announced the details for this year’s BlizzCon on Tuesday, April 22, an event which will be taking place this coming November at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California.

On Wednesday, April 9, Heroes of the Storm’s game director Dustin Browder published a post about how to effectively use your heroes both in and out of team fights, employing ambush tactics and hero focuses alike across the early, mid and late game. Blizzard has also released Battle.net Gift Cards , which will be available across a wide range of retailers in Europe for €20 / £15 each.
